Samsung Edge Touch
Smartphone users must understand the feelings when things go unexpected, such as calling someone without you knowing, or sending random unreadable message to someone close to you. That’s the ‘perk’ of having a phone with touch screen. Probably this is what made Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., to develop this app. Samsung Edge Touch for Android may not come as a big buzz in the online world, but its functionality is not something you should see half-heartedly. The app will help you to set an area, wherein your taps and swipes won’t work once it becomes effective. The other good news is the app works in portrait and landscape screen orientation.

Samsung Edge Touch app review
Since its release in 2018, there have been several updates from the app. However, unlike other apps that go viral, the utility app remains unknown within Android users. You should also remember this app only works on Android Samsung phones. So, if your phone isn’t Samsung, you cannot use this app despite being installed Android. The app’s features are pretty basic yet essential. The main feature is setting the Edge zones for your phone. As mentioned earlier, the ‘Edge zone’ simply indicates the area where your finger taps, slides, and swipes won’t work. This will be beneficial to avoid unintended screen touches.
Good thing is you can customize the screen Edge zone yourself. This app doesn’t go with only pick-and-activate menus. Hence, you can set how wide and long the Edge zone is, although there is a certain limitation that the app sets. The customized Edge zone will be available to be named anew. Therefore, anytime you need the configuration, all you need to do is to activate it with just one click. Talking about interface, the app is pretty user-friendly. The icons arrangement is neat enough. Setting the Edge zone does not require much hassle although for some it may confuse first-timers. The app does not exist in Google Play Store, but it is available on Galaxy Store.
Pros:
- If you think you often have experience with unintended screen touches, this app provides area where your finger touches won’t be taken as command.
- It has simple interface
- It is a light app as it does not surpass 5 MB for its installation file.
Cons:
- Without any tutorial whatsoever, people may be confused what this app is for. A tutorial will be a nice trick to get users acquainted with the functions in the app.
- It is only available for Samsung phones working with Android 7.0 and above.
- The appearance is boring, but this is understandable since it is a utility app.
To set the Edge zones, at the time you launch Samsung Edge Touch for Android, you will be ‘greeted’ with the menu ‘Add Edge zone’. After that, you can adjust the blocked zone by sliding the adjuster (white circle with 4-direction arrows) vertically and horizontally. As earlier stated, there is a limitation in terms of X-axis Edge zone, but not for the Y-axis. Once you continue the process, you will be assigned to adjust the grip zone. Repeat the same process to adjust blocked and grip zone for landscape screen orientation.
