Pokémon UNITE
It is safe to say that Pokémon UNITE for Android is amongst the most anticipated gaming app for mobile devices. The announcement itself in 2020 surprises a lot of people, especially the fans of this particular media franchise. Before anything about this game may be discussed, it is important to acknowledge that it is a MOBA game. If you aren’t familiar with the term, it stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena – a gaming genre that includes some of giant names, such as Mobile Legends, League of Legends, DOTA, and more. Therefore, this gaming app is apparently not your conventional MOBA game with the usual set-up elements.

Pokémon UNITE app review
The gameplay itself is officially introduces as team-based, strategic battle game of Pokémon. It involves two teams, both with five members to compete and catch as many Pokémon as possible in order to gain points. Rather than to bring down the opposite team, its premise is to deposit points. However, that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be able to defeat the opposite team in satisfying way. In the simplest way to put it, this game requires you to use the selected monster and fight with the enemy team to level up. Throughout the single battle, it allows you to evolve the Pokémon form, for example from Squirtle to Wartortle to Blastoise. By earning new abilities and points, you can reach higher level where you’d be allowed to use more unique and powerful game moves.
The map of Pokémon UNITE for Android is divided into two equal halves. In a glance, the map seems to be very inspired by famous MOBA games like League of Legends, where there are four points of controls on every side and one control on the base. The primary difference is this gaming app doesn’t feature central lane, but utilize open arena in which the players have to catch the Pokémon. The caught Pokémon are also able to move around the field instead of just being kept at one area.
Pros:
- It supports cross-platform gaming between mobile devices and Nintendo Switch.
- It provides numerous Pokémon for the fan of the franchise.
Cons:
- It currently has some issues regarding performance, especially the loading times
The ability of cross-play between platform means you can play the game with friends across devices. To start the game, you have to select a Pokémon to represent you as player. Each Pokémon, as you may already know, has different abilities and roles. In this gameplay, the players always move from the left of the map, and the enemy side is located at the right of the map.
As the players’ teams battle with each other by catching Pokémon, they will be able to evolves and gain new moves to perform attack in near or distance ranges. When trying to gain score, the players are being attacked in order to be interrupted. In the last two minutes of the battle, each of the scored point will be double then the team that collects highest score before time calls is going to win. The players are also able to customize Pokémon and the trainers throughout the game.
